Internet resources for chemistry research

Selected resources

ILC class     is related to these 8 resources.

Gx Athena mineralogy
The database contains minerals data; minerals can be searched by browsing lists (sorted either alphabetically or arranged systematically, according to the Strunz classification), or by searching mineral name or string in a mineral name, formula. There is a list of uncommon minerals with pictures. The database is mantained by Pierre Perroud (Université de Genève. Faculté des sciences. Département de minéralogie).

Gx COD : Crystallography Open Database
Collaboration project of several chemical institutes. The database contains about 48,000 CIF files (Crystallographic Information File): CIF is a standard format to exchange molecular crystallography information promoted by the International Union of Crystallography.

Gx Mineralogy Database
The database contains about 4500 individual mineral species descriptions, with links to several data archives: image library, crystallography, physical and optical properties, classifications, other external sources of information.

Gx WWW-Mincryst : crystallographic and crystallochemical database for mineral and their structural analogues
Project supported by the Russian Foundation of Basic Research and maintained by the Institute of Experimental Mineralogy (Moscow). The database contains more than 6000 entries (2500 unique mineral names). You can search or browse by mineral name, specification, crystal chemical formula, features of crystal structure, or Godovikov classification.

Gx F9i ICSD : Inorganic Crystal Structure Database
A database mantained by the Fachinformationszentrum Karlsruhe (FIZ) of Germany. Unlicensed users only have access to a demonstration version, including a subset of about 3600 inorganic structures (out of 95,000 of the complete database).

Gx Fs Ft Fu BMCD : Biological Macromolecule Crystallization Database + NASA Archive for Protein Crystal Growth Data
BMCD contains data on crystals and crystallization; it includes about 5250 crystals obtained from macromolecules.

Gx Y4 Links for mineralogists
Subcategorized, annotated lists of web sites, especially for mineralogists, petrologists, crystallographers, geologists.

V8 Gx IUCr : International Union of Crystallography
The IUCr is a member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and promotes the international cooperation in crystallography. Its activities are the publication of crystallographic research, the standardization of methods, units, nomenclatures and symbols. IUCr is a reference for the relations of crystallography to other sciences.
IUCr publishes eight Crystallography Journals Online, some providing open access.
